This zine’s primary purpose was to show details of the North in a physical way. This project explains the feelings and associations of life at the cabin. It is a simple story that includes my own written poem with hand-drawn elements.
I chose brown paper to display the woodsy textures and colors of trees, rocks, and twigs. The simple drawings are examples of the descriptions of life at the cabin—simple, relaxing, and tranquil. They are purposefully drawn with quick gestures, acting as a memory and quick picture of the things that are present up north. The language used is meant to be repetitive, acting as an indicator that life up north is meant to be repetitive and still.
